Join us as Sandwell Remembers.

03 November 2023

On Sunday 12 November, events will be held across Sandwell to mark Remembrance Sunday, as people from all faiths, backgrounds and cultures unite to honour our fallen heroes. These activities have been organised by the Royal British Legion and local community groups, with support from Sandwell Council.

Parades and services will be held from 10.30am and a two-minute silence will be observed at war memorials at 11am. They are open to anyone who would like to pay their respects. However, members of the public are advised that there will be temporary road closures during these parades.

This year, parades and services will be held in the following locations in Sandwell:

  • Great Barr – St Margaret’s Church
  • Oldbury – Oldbury Civic Square
  • Rowley Regis – Powke Lane Cemetery
  • Smethwick – Smethwick Council House
  • Tipton – Victoria Park
  • Wednesbury – Memorial Gardens
  • West Bromwich – Dartmouth Park

The Worshipful The Mayor of Sandwell, Councillor Bill Gavan, said:

“Remembrance Sunday is a time to honour the men and women who have sacrificed their lives and remember all our armed forces and their families. I hope many people are able to attend one of the seven services taking place in Sandwell.

“I would like to thank everyone who has come together this year to organise Sandwell’s Remembrance parades and services. The day would not be possible without the dedication and support from the Royal British Legion, all our wonderful volunteers and our residents.”
